IN THE WIND P34 RECENT MX/SX MOVES S illy season is in full swing in motocross/ supercross and a number of riders have made new commitments in the recent weeks, one of the more notable ones is Chris Alldredge. The 2014 AMA Horizon Award winner has spent his first two years as a pro with the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki Team, but he'll change colors for 2017. He recently signed with the Barn Pros Racing (BPRMX)/Home Depot Yamaha Team. "I'm super excited to be getting back on Yamahas with Barn Pros Racing this coming supercross season," said Alldredge. "After riding the Yamaha motorcycle for most of my amateur career, it's nice to be back on the bike that I had so much success on. And I can't thank the Barn Pros team enough for giving me another opportunity to show the supercross world what me and the team are capable of doing." Last month the team also signed seven-time AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion Rick Johnson as a consultant. He'll work with the team and its riders, the rest of which will be announced later. Arnaud Tonus, who came over from the grand prix circuit last year, will be leaving the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team and head- ing back to Europe for 2017. He'll move up to the MXGP class with the Wilvo Yamaha squad. Also headed to Europe in 2017 are two Ameri- can riders, Ryan Surratt and Tristan Charbo- neau. Charboneau had a promising pro start to his career with the GEICO Honda Team in 2016 before breaking his collarbone at round two of the outdoor nationals at Glen Helen. Surratt and Charboneau will focus their attention in the EMX (European Motocross Championship) in Europe and will be teammates on the Bud Kawasaki squad. They are expected to hit a few of the AMA 250SX West rounds in supercross before head- ing overseas. In other moves, Alex Martin and Jordon Smith recently signed with the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GoPro/KTM Team, and Dylan Ferrandis and Colt Nichols have joined up with the Star Racing Yamaha Team. There are still a few major names not yet signed, including James Stewart and his brother, Malcolm, Justin Bogle and Dean Wilson. The Stewart camp has been very quiet about their plans in the past few months—although Malcolm Stewart recently competed in the Arnhem Su- percross in Europe aboard a GEICO Honda. Many have asked why neither Stewart returned to defend their titles at last week's Red Bull Straight Rhythm—simple: neither one of them has secured a new ride yet. James' options appear to be small at the moment. The Honda, Kawasaki, KTM and Yamaha factory teams are full, and we heard that talks with Husqvarna, and even GEICO Honda, fell through. RCH Suzuki, perhaps? Wouldn't that be interesting if he and former on-track foe and RCH co-owner Ricky Carmichael hooked up? The RCH Team also has riders such as Bogle, Wilson, Jake Weimer, Broc Tickle and Justin Brayton to consider. CN Tristan Charboneau has his sights set on Europe in 2017.
