VOL. 53 ISSUE 40 OCTOBER 11, 2016 P25 KCF ACCEPTING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS K urt Caselli Foundation President Sarah Jean White announced that the deadline to apply for the foundation's spring semester scholarship has been pushed back to Novem- ber 15. Former racers are encouraged to ap- ply for the Kurt Caselli Foundation Scholarship online at www.KurtCaselli.com/scholarship. The KCF Scholarship was created to gift awards of $2500 to former racers who are currently pursuing an education. Applicants who are American citizens between the ages of 18-35 and currently enrolled in an accred- ited institution of higher learning are welcome to apply. CN GAJSER NO-GO FOR MONSTER ENERGY CUP M XGP World Champion Tim Gajser was hoping to compete in the October 15 Monster Ener- gy Cup at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, but he'll have to wait another year. Gajser will sit the race out to allow his shoulder to heal—the shoulder he injured just prior to the Motocross of Nations, which kept him out of that race, as well. The Slovakian did, however, com- pete in the October 8 SMX Riders' Cup in Ger- many and helped his Honda team finish second overall, although he aggravated the injury when he fell while leading the second of three races. Gajser said on Facebook, "Guys, sorry for that news! But I think health is the most important, so me and my dad decided to miss MEC. Good news is that nothing is broken, just I feel sore in my shoulder. I am really sad that I will not be there, because racing at that event—that's my dream. But that's sports, it can happen so quick. I'll be back soon in Arnhem." Gajser says that he'll be ready to go, however, for the Arnhem Supercross in The Netherlands, October 22. Check out this video showing Gajser's crash at the SMX Riders' Cup. CN Tim Gajser re-injured his shoulder in this crash at the SMX Riders' Cup. The KCF Scholarship application period has been extended to November 15.
