AMERICANS IMPRESS AT ASSEN RC CUP
A
nthony Mazziotto III and
2016 MotoAmerica RC Cup
Champion Brandon Paasch
finished an impressive second
and third, respectively, on the
overall podium at the KTM
RC Cup World Final at Assen,
October 2-3. The overall event
victory went to Dutchman Finn
de Bruin.
Mazziotto managed to sneak
onto the podium in third place
in race one, while Paasch, who
was leading with two laps to go,
was swamped by the chasing
pack on the final corner, eventu-
ally finishing in sixth place with
Belgium's Luca de Vleeschau-
wer taking the win.
Mazziotto and Paasch were
joined at Assen by Ashton Yates,
who almost pulled off a victory in
race two after a gearing change
saw the 17-year-old shoot to
the front and lead for a number
of laps before losing the front
on lap seven. Yates had earlier
finished eighth in race one,
hanging on to the back of the
top seven before losing touch
late in the race. He would even-
tually finish in 13th in the overall
standings. CN
