evident during Saturday's qualify-
ing race, where Forkner caught
and passed Herlings, only for
Herlings to go to school on For-
kner's lines, then pass him back
and pull away to take the qualify-
ing win—even though he didn't
need to.
In the first moto on Sunday,
Forkner and Rockstar Energy
Husqvarna's Max Anstie both
fought over the holeshot, while
Herlings was in a group of racers
battling over the third spot. But
in a masterful move, Herlings
went to the lead in the second
turn, and just flat began to pull
away.
Behind him, Jeremy Martin—
on his new GEICO Honda—led
Forkner forward until they
landed in second and third just
a handful of laps into the race,
and then the top racers spread
