Dovizioso got the better of
Vinales in the early stages, but
succumbed again just before
half distance, and by the end the
Suzuki had escaped by four sec-
onds. Dovizioso explained: "We
are still struggling to get the bike
to turn, and as the laps go by
tire choice (the old-style hard)
proved wrong for the second
race in a row. He'd closed on
the Yamahas, but "when Dani
passed me, I tried to follow him,
but I saw that it was more likely
I would crash than finish on the
podium."
The battle between the lead-
ing three had been compelling,
and overshadowed an otherwise
somewhat processional race at a
track where overtaking is always
difficult.
Marquez had pushed hard in
the early stages, but his front

was fourth on
the day but still
enjoys a safe
points lead.
