can was in a position to battle for
the overall. In the end, he came
up just four-seconds short be-
hind Bellino, but still carded his
best-ever finish to that point.
Loic Larrieu rounded out Sat-
urday's overall podium followed
by Nathan Watson and Sherco
rider Matt Phillips. The fifth-place
finish for Phillips meant that the
EnduroGP points leader had to
wait until the next day to wrap up
the overall championship.
On Sunday, Phillips put the
finishing touches on his amazing
season, taking the EnduroGP
and Enduro 2 World Champion-
ship titles with his fourth-place
finish. Also crowned on Sunday
were Eero Remes who piloted
his TM to his second-consecu-
tive Enduro 1 World Champion-
ship. KTM's Laia Sanz handily
mastered the women's title.
But not to be overshadowed
was Taylor Robert, who proved
to be fastest on the day. He
brought his EnduroGP season
to a close with a win, only eight
seconds ahead of Larrieu and
Watson. Robert topped two of
the day's six tests, and remained
consistent through the hot and
dusty day to capture his first win.
"To get the overall win feels
great," Robert said. "I couldn't
have thought of a better way to
end my season. At the beginning
of the summer I had a few rough
races so it means a lot to come
back and get an overall win. Fin-
ishing second overall yesterday I
knew I could get the win today. I
was battling all day long with Lar-
rieu and was so nervous coming
into the final test with just five
seconds separating us. I let it all
hang out and got the win." CN
Beta's Steve Holcombe
clinched the Enduro 3 World
Championship.
