ROBERT GETS ONE AT WORLD ENDURO FINAL T he FIM World Enduro Cham- pionship wrapped up with its final round in Cahors, France over the weekend, with riders greeted by dry, dusty condi- tions. American rider Taylor Robert of the factory KTM team was able to capitalize on the fa- miliar conditions and put his full season of experience to work to finally capture an overall win at the AMV GP of France, where class champions were crowned, including the first-ever Endu- roGP champion, Sherco rider Matt Phillips. Day one in France saw the first champion crowned as fac- tory Beta rider Steve Holcombe took the 2016 Enduro 3 World Championship title after winning the E3 class. It marked his 11th win of the series and his first-ev- er Enduro World Championship. "Winning this title is amaz- ing, the perfect end to what has been an incredible year for me," commented Holcombe. "It's been an anxious time running up to this event. I flet good today but not exactly at the level I've been riding all year. It was close with Manuel Monni today and Johnny Aubert had a great ride considering his injured shoulder. They kept me on my toes but I did enough to become world champion, which feels amaz- ing." The day didn't belong en- tirely to Holcombe, however, as Husqvarna's Mathias Bellino and KTM's Taylor Robert battled it out up front.
