ROBERT GETS ONE AT WORLD ENDURO FINAL
T
he FIM World Enduro Cham-
pionship wrapped up with
its final round in Cahors, France
over the weekend, with riders
greeted by dry, dusty condi-
tions. American rider Taylor
Robert of the factory KTM team
was able to capitalize on the fa-
miliar conditions and put his full
season of experience to work to
finally capture an overall win at
the AMV GP of France, where
class champions were crowned,
including the first-ever Endu-
roGP champion, Sherco rider
Matt Phillips.
Day one in France saw the
first champion crowned as fac-
tory Beta rider Steve Holcombe
took the 2016 Enduro 3 World
Championship title after winning
the E3 class. It marked his 11th
win of the series and his first-ev-
er Enduro World Championship.
"Winning this title is amaz-
ing, the perfect end to what has
been an incredible year for me,"
commented Holcombe. "It's
been an anxious time running
up to this event. I flet good today
but not exactly at the level I've
been riding all year. It was close
with Manuel Monni today and
Johnny Aubert had a great ride
considering his injured shoulder.
They kept me on my toes but
I did enough to become world
champion, which feels amaz-
ing."
The day didn't belong en-
tirely to Holcombe, however,
as Husqvarna's Mathias Bellino
and KTM's Taylor Robert battled
it out up front. Though Robert
has a class win to his credit, it
marked the first time the Ameri-
