us wasn't enough to get to the
front quick enough. Fifth place
is better than the results I've had
here lately. I finished, so that
was good. Harley-Davidson and
all the crew did a pretty good job
today."
JR Addison (Smith Racing/
J&F Construction) worked his
way from 14th on lap one to a
seventh-place finish some five
seconds ahead of Lawrence
who was over eight seconds
ahead of a pack that was made
up of all the riders left in the
race. That pack was led by Jake
Shoemaker (Bonneville Perfor-
mance/Castrol-Triumph).
Making his first ride on the
outside third row. I wanted to get
a good run into turn one. I was
like fifth or sixth in the first turn
so that wasn't bad. I had some
serious corner speed; it felt
really good, especially between
one and two. The front stretch
had a bad headwind and every
time I would make good time
through the corner and hit the
front straightaway, it was like
being tied to sail or something,
then I just couldn't go anywhere.
Cory would go blasting back by
me. I wish we could have gotten
up to Bryan and Kenny a little
bit sooner, and then maybe we
could have mixed up with them.
I had the corner speed and he
had the straightaway speed.
or six laps to figure it out. I got
a good jump and struggled for
the first five or six laps. I kind
of drifted back. I was probably
sixth, seventh or eighth, some-
where around in there. I was
able to just kind of keep work-
ing. I got back up to fourth; I just
didn't have what I needed to be
with the front guys today. All in
all it was a good finish. It's pretty
cool when your bad days are a
fourth or fifth right now. On our
good days, we're on the box."
In the middle of a snake-bit
season, Brad Baker was able
to come away with a fifth-place
finish. "It was a pretty good
race," he said. "I decided to pick
the third outside pick, so I had
