VOL. 53 ISSUE 32 AUGUST 16, 2016 P29 JESSY NELSON'S ROAD 2 RECOVERY T eam TLD/KTM rider Jessy Nelson suffered a big crash in the first 250MX moto at the Unadilla round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, and is facing some potentially seri- ous injuries. In an Instagram post following the crash, Nelson reported "At this time I have limited feeling from my waist down. The hope is that after the swelling goes down, I will get some more feeling back." While it is too early to know the extent of his injuries, Road 2 Recovery (R2R) has not hesitated to set up a fundraising campaign to help with the medical expenses. "R2R has been speaking to his team and people closest to him since he hit the ground," read a state- ment on the R2R fundraiser page. "No matter the level of injury, R2R will be by his side to assist in his recovery. Any support is appreciated at this time and you can make a tax-deductible donation on this page. As we know there are a lot of treatments and rehabilitation out there that are not covered by insur- ance and we will do everything in our power to make sure Jessy gets the best care available." Visit https://road2recovery.com/cause-view/jessy-nelson/ to make a donation to Jessy Nelson's recovery effort. R2R is also asking people to use the hashtag #JN13R2R for words of encouragement, prayers and messages to Nelson on social media. CN WEBB, A. MARTIN, ANDERSON HEADED FOR MAGGIORA T he AMA has selected the three riders who will represent the United States at the Motocross of Nations in Maggiora, Italy, September 25, and those riders are Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha teammates Cooper Webb and Alex Martin, and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Team's Jason Anderson. Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey had previously openly said that he had no plans to race this year's event, and Eli Tomac officially announced last week that he isn't going, as his plate is just too full in the upcoming months to attend. Both Webb and Martin have previous Motocross of Nations experience. Webb was on last year's team, which finished second, and Martin has represented Puerto Rico at the MXoN in 2013 and 2014. This will be Anderson first time at the MXoN. Anderson has been sidelined lately with a col- larbone injury, but he states he'll be good to go by then. In fact, he's hoping to race this weekend at Budds Creek. Webb will compete in the MXGP class, Anderson in the Open class, and Martin in the MX2 class. Roger DeCoster will again serve as the team's manager. CN The 2016 U.S. MXoN Team will be made up of Cooper Webb, Alex Martin and Jason Anderson. (not pictured) PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROB KOY
