VOL. 53 ISSUE 29 JULY 26, 2016 P59
After Alex Martin came Nel-
son, and then Hill and Pless-
inger, who gained spots when
Osborne dropped out of th e
race with an electrical problem
late in the moto.
Webb immediately and con-
tinually distanced himself from
his rival throughout the race,
and with three laps to go, Webb
managed to pass Cianciarulo for
sixth place in the moto, landing
him third overall behind team-
mate Alex Martin and Forkner.
He beat Savatgy by 35 seconds,
as the Kawasaki pilot could only
climb his way up to 11th in the
moto, which still landed him
fourth overall with a 2-11. CN

felt like I had a pretty tight inside
line, and Joey [Savatgy] came in
pretty aggressive, and I basically
went off the track and he went
way outside and Austin [Forkner]
got around us. Just whatever,
it's racing. So, the next corner,
he went to the middle in that left
and I went inside and our lines
met in that chicane and we hit.
I got sketchy; and I don't know
what happened to him but I
was just holding on and trying
not to fall, then I felt a bump
and crashed. And all I saw was
bikes and people, and I was
trying to get up, and it was just a
mad dash. I knew there were a
couple of guys down but I didn't
know who, and all I knew was to
get my bike and get going and
see what we can do."
Jeremy Martin got going again
in 38th.
The shenanigans gifted For-
kner a massive opening-lap lead
over Osborne's teammate Martin
Davalos and Hill's teammates
Jessy Nelson and Mitch Old-
enburg. Then came moto-one
winner Alex Martin, Osborne,
Cianciarulo, Hill and the rest of
the field.
On the 13th lap, Davalos
high-sided and was flung into
the crowd and his bike into the
fence. His day was done.
At nearly the same time, Alex
Martin fought his way by Nel-
son, which put him into second
place. And that's how they'd
finish, at least out front, with
Forkner taking his first-ever moto
win.
In the end, teammates Webb
and Jeremy Martin both fell while
Savatgy ended up stalling his
engine. Cianciarulo re-joined the
race in seventh and Webb kept
his engine running and was able
to re-join just in front of Savatgy,
both well outside the top 20.
"From my perspective, you
know, I got a holeshot, which
was sick, because I don't ever
do that," Webb said. "Then we
came down that downhill, and I
