MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 9 / JULY 23, 2016 WASHOUGAL, WASHINGTON / WASHOUGAL MX PARK P60 My Own Race: 26 ALEX MARTIN 1ST 250MX (1-2) "Typically, this track doesn't suit me too well," Martin said of his day. "I [didn't have] the best of qualifying, but I continued my holeshot streak—three in a row—and to lead every lap [of the first moto] was pretty cool. There was some serious pressure from Joey for a little bit and it feels good to hold on to it. I've been so close for so many times, it's been frustrating, but to cross the finish line in first for the first time this year, I was beyond ecstatic. When I won at Glen Helen, that was a 2-2, so that [winning the second moto] was the best feeling I've had this year. In the first moto, I know it's hard to pass on this track, so having Joey behind me for the majority of the moto—I know he was suffering with the roost, because that roost hurts here—I just tried to put solid laps in. Not the best start in the second moto, there was a lot of chaos that first lap, and I was able to weed my way through the carnage and came up around fourth and had a good battle with Jessy for the majority of the moto and was able to get him there at the end, and Martin [Davalos] got a little crazy there and went through the fence. It felt good to get the overall, for sure." 214 AUSTIN FORKNER 2ND 250MX (10-1) "The first moto, I lit the tire off the gate and was way back, probably around the 30s," said Forkner of his day. I rode really good and came back to 10th. I knew the speed was there, I just needed the start. The next [start] was better, I think I was third or fourth, then Savatgy and Cooper got together, so I saw an opportunity and I took it. Then the next thing I knew, I went through the S-turn and I didn't hear anybody. That was good for me; I just wanted to lead a few laps. Then 10 minutes in, I saw that it was Davalos behind me and guys I knew I could beat, because I passed them in the first moto, I didn't see Coop' or Joey or those guys behind me, so I thought, 'I could actually win this.' So I basically rode the same the whole moto. I was waiting for the two-lap board to come out for so long! I just kept riding good all day. Alex caught me a little bit; I slowed down a little bit just to do everything right. I was so excited, I wanted to do a fist pump over every whoop just before the finish line." 17 COOPER WEBB 3RD 250MX (3-6) "For what happened, it was a good day," Cooper Webb summed up. "Obvi- ously we want to win and we weren't close to that today, so that was a bit of a bummer. The first moto I got a bad start and didn't put myself in a good situation but I came back to third, which I was stoked on. Joey and Alex were riding really good that first moto. The second moto I got the holeshot and we got all tangled up and then it was a mad dash to get up and go for it, and get as many positions as you can get. I put my head down, but the track was really sketchy which made it hard to push with the shadows, but I was pretty stoked how I was able to come back up. I could've done a lot worse in the first moto and the second moto, but we'll take it and use it as motivation from here on." 3 ELI TOMAC 1ST 450MX (2-1) "It was a good day, no sand this time," Eli Tomac joked as he talked about his day. "The first moto was a little bit funky; I was a little bit off. I was tight the first half of the race. The second moto I had a little bit better of a start and got to the front pretty quick. He [Roczen] seemed to let me by, I took it, and laid it down after that." Tomac went on to set the fastest lap of the race, even when he didn't have to. "I was in a good rhythm, and the last thing you want to do is change that rhythm or think about being safe…you're better off staying in the groove and do what you're doing. I changed some of my lines in the second but kept some as well."
