JARVIS FIVE-TIME ROMANIACS WINNER
R
ockstar Energy Husqvarna's
Graham Jarvis returned to
the top of the box at the Red
Bull Romaniacs, July 16, to
capture his first victory in three
years in Romania, becoming a
five-time winner of the extreme
enduro event. The 41-year-old
got out to a modest start in the
prologue, but went on to throttle
his way to a 27-minute victory at
the close of day four.
"It is incredible to get a fifth
win," Jarvis remarked. "The last
couple of years I've been a bit
unlucky so I'm just happy to get
another win. Can't believe I can
still do it—even at 41!"
Jarvis was followed by KTM's
Alfredo Gomez and Sherco rider
Wade Young, who rounded out
the podium. Jarvis' Husqvarna
teammate Mario Roman and
KTM rider Scott Bouverie com-
pleted the top-five.
Gomez fired the first shot
of the event with a win in the
prologue, which took riders
through a challenging manmade
inner-city course through Sibiu,
Romania. The Spaniard said he
"wasn't really fighting or compet-
ing against anyone," but simply
"concentrating on not falling."
In doing so, he bested Red Bull
KTM factory rider Jonny Walk-
er, Jarvis, Billy Bolt and Paul
Bolton.
Riders then took to the moun-
tains for day one of the competi-
tion, where South African Wade
Young seized the lead. After
nearly eight hours in the saddle
on the hot and dusty Transylva-
nian trails with GPS showing the
way, Young finished out front,
although Gomez still held the
overall lead with this runner-up
finish on the day. Jarvis finished
third while the British contingent
behind him struggled.

champion Jonny Walker made
