Billy Bolt found himself stuck in the wilderness and had to rely on a rescue team to help him out. "I was riding through long grass in third or fourth gear," said Walker, "and clipped my toe on a hidden tree stump which pulled my leg off the bike. When I got up my leg was killing me so I rode all the way on my left leg, which is also in pain now." "I really regret that Walker and Bolton are out," Jarvis comment- ed. "It is always sad because whoever wins wants to say they beat everyone—and not because of a DNF." Day two saw Jarvis advance in the race, starting from his fourth-place position and ending the day with a sizeable 15-minute lead. Wade reportedly lost his clutch early in the day, which complicated his efforts, though he still managed to finish third. Gomez also lost time with a num- ber of crashes. Only half the field made it to Friday's starting line for day three, where rain and thunder- storms drenched the parched ground. The final day saw blue skies and deep mud holes following Friday's heavy rainfall, and only a third of riders on the start. Jar- vis, who had amassed a 30-min- ute lead, played it cool, letting Young and Gomez lead the way. While Jarvis did hold the physi- cal lead at times, it was Young who crossed the line first while Jarvis played it safe en route to the grand victory. "I struggled a bit with con- centration being the last day, but I tried to stay positive and focused," Jarvis said. "Wade (Young) was flying; he caught me arly and brought Gomez with him so we were riding together for a bit. It's good to see the young riders coming up. They're so fast. But at the Red Bull Romaniacs, experience counts." CN 1. Graham Jarvis (Hus) 2. Alfredo Gomez (KTM) 3. Wade Young (Shr) 4. Mario Roman (Hus) 5. Scott Bouverie (KTM) Red Bull KTM Factory rider Jonny Walker dropped out of the competition after aggravating an ankle injury.
