The GNC2 Main got off to a
rocky start for fast qualifier Ryan
Varnes, as the Myers Motor-
sports/Varnes Racing pilot
jumped the start and was sent to
the penalty line. When the 12-lap
race did get underway, Charlie
Gerencer blasted his Team Nila/
Gerencer Motorsports-backed
Harley-Davidson into the lead
Thresher Comunications) and
Shawn Baer (Schaeffer's Mo-
torsports/SBR) rounded out the
top 10.
Despite Mees' dominant
performance, he was only able
to slice five points off Smith's
points lead as the series moves
into its second half. Smith holds
a 17-point advantage, with Hal-
bert another seven points back.
Lewis came home with a fifth-
place finish after running as low
as 14th early in the race. Smith

finish all 25 laps and came away
with his best finish ever in GNC1
National.
