and make the race win, so this is
what we came to do."
Second in race two behind
the undisputed King of Doning-
ton was Jonathan Rea.
Having won the last three of
four races, he has now become
the chief hound chasing Rea the
fox.
And Rea is a fox, outsmarting
some serious issues in race one
for his first podium, overcoming
arm pump for second in race
two, and keeping his 100-per-
cent top-three record in place
again. That's 14 straight podiums
for Rea.
The man who lost ground at
Donington was Chaz Davies
who hit the ground twice in race
one, the second resulting in a
DNF. A third in race two was little
consolation.
Davide Giugliano soared in
race one but eventually lost out
to Sykes. He was seventh in
race two.
Leon Camier (MV Agusta
Reparto Corse) was a great
fighting fourth in race one and
backed that up with another
fourth in race two. Nicky Hayden
(Honda WSB) took 5-6 results.
Cameron Beaubier, filling in
for the injured Sylvain Guintoli
at Pata Yamaha, ended his first
WorldSBK weekend with DNF-10
results.
"In race two I did not get a
good start; not a start like I had
on Saturday," Beaubier said. "I
started feeling better towards
the end of the race on Sunday,
and if I was able to do that race
yesterday and line up again I
would have been in a whole
different situation—feeling a lot
better, feeling how I did towards
the end of the race.
"Other than that it was a really
fun weekend for me," Beaubier
added. "I had a lot of fun work-
ing with the Pata Yamaha team
and they treated me really well.
It was a fun overall weekend. I
wished the result was a little bit
better but I am happy with the
experience I got. I know what to
expect if I am ever back.
"I have not heard much [about
riding again at Misano] and I
think it is just based on how Syl-
vain is doing. We will see about
the future. I would love to race
on the world stage with Yamaha
but we will see what happens. I
have a job at home to do and I
am flying back tomorrow to go
home for a day and then back to
Wisconsin for the MotoAmerica
races."
In the points, Rea leads with
293, Sykes is now second with
237 and Davies dropped to
third, with 231. Giugliano is now
fourth, with 147.
After re-signing to his Ka-
wasaki Puccetti Racing team
for 2017 at Donington, points
leader Kenan Sofuoglu scored a
Superpole win on Saturday and
then the 20-lap WorldSSP race
win on Sunday to go more than
one full race win worth of points
ahead of his nearest rival.
In the race, which he led for
Cameron Beaubier acquitted himself
well at Donington, making up for a
DNF in race one with 10
th
in race two.
