TWO GOES INTO EIGHT FOR SYKES
I
n the recent past, Tom Sykes
(KRT) won Donington WorldS-
BK races with ease, but this
year, May 28-29, he did it with
determination and grit thrown in
to his usual front-running pace.
He won the first after being
knocked—literally—off line from
his leading pole position, but he
stuck with it and passed even-
tual second-place rider Davide
Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing
Ducati) to take his third race win
of 2016.
In race two it was his team-
mate Jonathan Rea who had to
be overcome, in a more usual
way from the front.
Rea was third in race one
after fighting false neutral prob-
lems.
Sykes took his career total of
wins to 30 with his race-two win.
Winning Superpole made his
weekend almost perfect.
And after his 2016 Donington
wins, Sykes now stands at an
unreal eight wins in a row at
home.
"I overtook Chaz in the points
today but that is not the is-
sue," said Sykes. "I am not too
concerned about that. What
we need to do is get back to
winning races like we did in the
past and today. We were able to
respond to some hard pushes
on track and we were able to
sacrifice a little bit of lap time
Tom Sykes
made it eight
wins in a row at
Donington Park.
