C
ameron Beaubier used his
factory Monster Energy/
Graves Yamaha YZF-R1
to great effect over the week-
end, taking pole position in the
dry and a double win in the wet
at New Jersey Motorsport Park
to vault himself back into cham-
pionship contention and let the
MotoAmerica Superbike field
know the reigning champ is back
in business.
Beaubier went into the fourth
round of the series seventh in the
points standings behind the first-
and second-placed Yoshimura
Suzukis of Roger Hayden and
Toni Elias, and left second in the
points to new series leader, team-
mate Josh Hayes, who carded
2-2 results in New Jersey.
The rain proved a bad omen
for the Yosh machines with Elias
taking only 18-12 finishes and
Hayden 9-17 for the round, drop-
ping the former title leader to third
in the standings.
