VOL. 53 ISSUE 17 MAY 3, 2016 P23 to 12 motos and now leads the championship by 70 points. Behind Herlings was the ever-inconsis- tent Max Anstie whose 2-2 results were the first time he's finished inside the top 10 in both motos of an event. He battled hard with Jeremy See- wer who is the exact opposite of Anstie, having scored podium finishes at the last five rounds. Seewer now sits comfortably second in the championship, 37 points ahead of Pauls Jonass who didn't have a great GP in front of his home fans. A first-moto third was followed by a 14th as multiple crashes left the Latvian down the field on a track that was tricky to pass on (for everyone except Gajser). On his return to action after missing four rounds, French rider Dylan Ferrandis put in two good performances that suggest that once he's back to full health, he'll spice up the battle for second place. Unfortunately though for the rest of the field, Herlings just looks so good right now that aiming any higher than second would be futile. In the European 250 class, American Darian Sanayei backed up his good first round in the Netherlands with a podium spot for round two. His 6-3 results were good enough for third place and moves him up to sixth in the championship. With eight rounds still remaining, there are plenty of chances for him to move up even further as he grows more accustomed to life in Europe.
