WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
DOWN
Ryan Dungey might
have a big points lead
but that doesn't mean
he won't still fight for
a win. He certainly
proved that at the Indy
Supercross.

T
he Monster Energy
AMA Supercross Series
has gotten a lot of grief
over the years for the "cookie
cutter" nature of track design.
For much of the current su-
percross era, the tracks have
been designed sort of like the
old Nintendo game "Excite-
bike" where they have certain
obstacles and they seemed to
just put them out on the floor
of the stadium in a slightly
different order from week to
week.
But there's one variable
that can change everything
regardless of the intent of the
track designer: the dirt. And
the dirt in Indianapolis took
what should've been a rather
pedestrian supercross track
and turned it into something
that taxed the racers mentally,
physically and mechanically.
All of them.
