(Pontiac 1993 and Seattle 1994).
So, it shouldn't be any surprise that two-
time and defending 250cc National MX
Champion Jeremy Martin won this year's Day-
tona Supercross, or that Daytona marked Eli
Tomac's first win of the year (and first on a Ka-
wasaki), considering Tomac is also a former
250cc MX champ and how dominant he was
outdoors prior to injuring himself last year.
That's not to say there were no surprises at
Daytona, though.

T
he Daytona Supercross has long bene-
fitted outdoor specialists. For example,
four-time outdoor motocross champion
Mike Kiedrowski won the event three years in
a row from 1993 through 1995, and although
he was by no means bad at supercross, it
wasn't his strongpoint. He only won two non-
Daytona supercross races in his entire career
Ryan Dungey (1) got off to a
fast start but couldn't keep
Eli Tomac (3) from getting the
early lead and eventual win in
the 450SX main.
