the race for the title might be all but over, as long
as Cooper Webb can stay out of trouble in the
next two West rounds (Santa Clara and Las Ve-
gas). Webb trailed Joey Savatgy going into the Ar-
lington race by three points but came out 11 points
ahead after claiming his fourth win of the season.
It's not quite the 25-point lead that he once had,
but it's probably enough to get him the 2016 West
title as long as he plays it safe. Yes, there are still
two races to go and anything can happen, like a
freak mechanical failure or a couple of seemingly
innocent washouts like the ones that ultimately
cost Webb his once big points lead, but those
are lessons learned that we doubt Webb and his
Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha Team will repeat.
All he has to do now is just finish on the podium in
the final two races and the title is his to savor for a
second straight year.
