VOL. 53 ISSUE 6 FEBRUARY 17, 2016 P29 ESLICK IN FOR MOTOAMERICA SUPERSTOCK 1000 F an favorite Danny Eslick will be on the start line for the opening round of the 2016 MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Championship after con- firming a season-long deal with TOBC Racing aboard Yamaha YZF-R1. A fractured 2015 season aboard a Honda CBR1000RR for Turbo Turtle Racing, and later as a fill-in rider for Aprilia HSBK in the final round at New Jersey where Eslick netted 6-6 results, showed he still has the speed to compete at the front, and his arrival reignites one of U.S. racing's hottest rivalries against long-time nemesis Josh Herrin, who also moves up to Superstock 1000 with Meen Motorsports. Eslick will also compete in the Daytona 200 this March as he goes for his third-straight win. His 2015 Daytona 200 victory came on a TOBC Rac- ing Suzuki GSX-R600, with the team switching to the Yamaha YZF-R6 for 2016. Speaking to Next Moto Champion's Danielle Teal, Eslick said, "To be doing the 200 with the TOBC team is really awesome, but to ride a full season on one of the new R1s is going to be even better. I'm super stoked to be working with [team owner] Michelle [Lindsay] and the TOBC crew. I'm going to be having fun and sliding that R1 around." Watch out for some fireworks at round one of MotoAmerica in Austin this April! CN BARRY SHEENE BIO-MOVIE COMING! I f there's one man in racing history that deserves a bio-movie, it's Britain's legendary two-time 500cc World Champion, Barry Sheene. The arch nemesis of King Kenny Roberts, Sheene was the first motorcycle racer to truly understand the power of celebrity, and quite often had a camera following him during his most dra- matic moments—like when his rear tire exploded on the Daytona banking in 1975—with the resulting TV coverage and endless self promotion making him a household name across the globe. Now, IO Films Australia and Deep Spring Pictures UK will be producing a bio-movie on the man who sadly succumbed to cancer in 2003. No release date has been confirmed and any further information on the film that comes to hand, we will pass onto you. In the meantime, check out the trailer. CN Always got a smile on his face—especially when he's win- ning! Eslick will be one to watch this year.
