WOLSINK HONORED AT CARLSBAD
REUNION
I
t was a busy weekend for five-
time Carlsbad USGP winner
Gerrit Wolsink.
The former Team Suzuki rider
from Holland was honored by
the Legends and Heroes group
Saturday, February 13, at the San
Diego Supercross, then he was
the star attraction at the Carlsbad
MX Reunion held the next day at
the Booze Brothers Brewing Co.
in Vista, California, not far from
the Carlsbad Raceway site.
Some of those who attended
the Carlsbad Reunion included
Torsten Hallman, Gary Bailey,
Lars Larson, Billy Silverton,
Steve Stackable, Marty Tripes,
Broc Glover, David Bailey, Ricky
Johnson and the event's pro-
moter Scott Burnworth.
Former Suzuki and Yamaha
factory motocross rider and San
Diego resident Scott Burnworth
first hosted the Carlsbad MX
Reunion a few years ago and
it was brought back this year
by popular demand. The origi-
nal reunion honored five-time
MX World Champion Roger
DeCoster and this year's event
honored five-time Carlsbad
USGP winner, Wolsink,.
Also on hand was Carlsbad
USGP promoter Gavin Trippe
who told how his story on how
the GP came about and how he
was able to get TV's ABC Wild
World Of Sports to air the race.
Carlsbad Raceway's own Jeff
and Larry Grismer also took part
in the event.
A Carlsbad monument is be-
ing planned.
