2016 AMA ICE RACE
GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP
RESCHEDULED
T
he 2016 AMA Ice Race Grand Championship
has been rescheduled for February 27-28 at
Mitchell State Park in Cadillac, Michigan. The
event originally was scheduled for February 13-14
at the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area in Waterford,
Michigan.
"We have moved the race location nearly 175
miles northwest of the original location, where
temperatures have been colder and the ice should
be safe to race on," said AMA Track Racing Man-
ager Ken Saillant. "Bundle up, bring your bikes
and ATVs, and we'll see you out there."
Practice starts at 8 a.m. and racing commenc-
es at 10 a.m.
The event schedule calls for competitors to
battle for AMA national championships in a variety
of classes on the oval track on Saturday and the
grand prix on Sunday. On Saturday night, a non-
championship rubber-tire enduro race will be run
under the lights.
An AMA specialty award for Ice Racer of the
Year will be bestowed upon one outstanding rider.
Some past winners include Kaley Johnson, Allen
Rabinette, Parker Norris and Kyle Johnson.
The AMA Youth Ice Racer of the Year also will
be named at the event. Past recipients include
Emmett Sund, Christopher Blackmer, Nathan
Gross and Jace Kessler.
The AMA Ice Racing Grand Championship
features classes for riders from four years old to
50-plus competing on bikes that range from lightly
modified off-road machines to purpose-built ice
racers.

CIANCIARULO INJURED AGAIN
K
awasaki has confirmed that Adam Cianciarulo will sit out at least the first few rounds of the 250SX
East Supercross Series, which begins February 27 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Cianciarulo, of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team, suffered a broken wrist last week
while training and is expected to be off the bike for six weeks.
This is another tough blow for Cianciarulo who turned
pro (full time) in 2014 but has been hampered by a string
of injuries that has kept him off the track more than he
has been on the track.
Earlier this year, Cianciarulo also announced that he
and legendary trainer Aldon Baker have parted ways.
Cianciarulo was hoping to get off to a fresh start in 2016,
but it's now turned into another rocky start. CN
Adam Cianciarulo will have to wait a little longer
before making his comeback.
