the 20-lap main event, but he
quickly moved back through the
early-race speedsters such as
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's
Christophe Pourcel, human
bowling ball Vince Friese, and
BTOSports.com KTM's Justin
Brayton to put himself into sec-
ond place behind Dungey.
For the next 18 laps, Reed
shadowed Dungey. Every time
Dungey would pull away a little
bit, Reed would reel him back
in just over a second behind
the KTM superstar. In the end,
Dungey scored his first win of
the season, but Reed—less
than 1.5 seconds behind at the
checkered—was probably just as
happy to be racing for wins this
early in the season.
And the fact that the lead duo
were the only two racers to dip
down into the 48-second lap-
time range-and were nearly 10
seconds clear of third place on
the track at the end of the main
event-shows that this was likely
not a fluke. Class has begun.
