WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY STEVE COX
O
ver the years, Red Bull KTM's
Ryan Dungey has earned the
nickname "diesel" by virtue of
the impression that although he's not
always the fastest guy around, he's
always somewhere in the mix when it
counts. His consistency has always
been his key to success.
However, something seems to have
clicked for the champ as of about the
halfway point of round one's 450SX
main event in Anaheim last week.
Dungey ran seventh and at about the
halfway point he found another gear
and moved his way up into second by
the end of the race.
This week, the champ picked up
where he left off, as the fastest guy
on the track, on his way to his first
win of 2016 and the points lead.

Ryan Dungey (1) wasted no time in San
Diego, starting up front and leading all
but the opening lap on the way to his
first win of 2016 and the red plate.
