ROUND 2 / JANUARY 16, 2016

SEELY ASCENDING
Honda's Cole Seely is proving
that he's in this series for the long
haul. At Anaheim 1, Seely led the
majority of the main event before
he slipped back to second, and
then eventually third place on the
last lap. It's easy to discount a
performance like that at the first
race of the season, as every-
one is suffering from a case of
nerves, and while the field was
busy battling it out behind him,
he had a clean track.
However, Seely managed to
match that finish in San Diego
while heading in the opposite
direction. Starting at the tail
end of the top 10, Seely went to
work early and fought his way
into third place on lap six behind
Dungey and Reed. It was a spot
he held solidly until Anderson
made up about a second and
a half by not rolling through the
track's triple (as mentioned on
the previous page) and then
fought his way by Seely with a
few laps to go in the race.
Seely finished a close fourth
place, but was credited with
third after the FIM assessed the
penalty on Anderson.
Seely seems bound to prove
that he was the 2015 AMA 450cc
Supercross Rookie of the Year
for a reason, and plans to be
near the front regardless of
where he starts from here on out.
Cole Seely (14) leads supercross's
own human pinball Vince Friese
(55) on lap three of the main event
after passing Friese for sixth place.
Seely ended up working forward to
officially finish third, while Friese
went the other way to 17th.
