(Left) This beautiful 1957 Maico 250
also belongs to Bubba Dennis, but he
raced it, winning Classic 250cc Expert.
Actually, it's a collection of Maicos
from '57 to '60 and includes other parts
like a '79 Maico fuel tank modified
(scalloped) by Karl Landrus Products
and Bultaco fenders. "It's an extremely
fast motor; it's been breathed on a little
bit," he says. "That's probably one of
the most fun bikes I've got to ride."
(Below) North Carolina's Tim Clendenin
raced this beautiful 1978 Bultaco 370
Mk II Model 207 to a 4-4 fourth overall
in Post-Vintage 50+ Intermediate. "I
used to race them back in the day," he
recalls. "Actually, this is only my fifth
[vintage race]. I just got into it about
three years ago." He laughs, "I didn't
forget how to ride, I just can't ride as
fast as I used to!"
One thing about vintage bikes is that they
require a little more work to keep them running,
but at least they're usually simple to work on.
