(Above) One of the most beautiful bikes
of the weekend was there strictly for
show. Texas native Bubba Dennis started
with a rare C&J full-cradle frame (one
of only two in the country out of six
produced) then added a 1980 Honda
XR500R engine with ported head,
oversize valves, billet cam, billet clutch
basket and an exhaust he fabricated
himself. "It's a hoss!" he declares. "It's
fast!" The fuel tank, fenders, side panels
and seat base are from a '79 Honda
CR250R. He sourced the hubs from an
'83 CR480R but machined them lighter
and completed them with Buchanan
spokes and Takasago Excel rims. He
estimates 300-400 hours went into it,
adding, "You don't buy anything for a
C&J, you build everything!"
