2016 YAMAHA YZ250X
FIRST RIDE

ing gears on this bike, not like
you would on the YZ. The smooth
acceleration combined with the
wide powerband and torque
means you can really stretch out
each gear. Although we would
prefer a six-speed tranny, the X's
five-speed gearbox still offers
quite a bit of versatility.
The X also feels plenty fast in
top gear; bushes and trees turn
into a blur when the trails open
up. This bike also has plenty of
overrev. It feels like it just keeps on
pulling with no abrupt signing off.
You'll also feel some vibes in the
handlebars as the R's increase,
but it really isn't an issue at all.
