would not be denied, and the

Yamaha rider crossed the finish
line first.
Frenchman Christophe
Pourcel finished third aboard
his Husqvarna—the only non-
Yamaha inside the top-six.
Valentin Guillod was fourth
followed by Cedric Soubeyras.
Recently crowned MXGP World
Champion Romain Febvre, in a
rare Supercross appearance,
finished sixth on Saturday.
Peick was looking for a repeat
performance on Sunday night,
but things started off poorly
when he crashed during his heat
race. Peick had to qualify out
of the LCQ, and his gate pick
for the main event suffered as a
result.
Pourcel got the jump and
took the early lead. While Peick
eventually moved up to second
place, Pourcel was the dominant
performer on the night and led
the charge from start to finish.
But Peick rode smart to collect
second place—enough to grant
him the overall victory in Lille.
Pourcel's 3-1 score gave him
second overall in front of his
countrymen.
Webb had his work cut out
for him to claim the final podium
position (in the overall) after suf-
fering a crash in the main event.
He rallied back to fifth place,
and combined with his Saturday
night finish, he was able to edge
out Valentin Guillod for third
overall. Fabien Izoird finished out
the top-five. CN
