Not only did Yamaha redesign the X's exhaust pipe for perfor- mance but also for protection. It's been reshaped so it doesn't hang as low or stick out as much as the YZ's pipe; that's to keep it from getting smashed by rocks and trees as much. It's also just plain beefy. After a couple of rides, the pipe on our bike still looks brand new.
