riders) and second in the XC1
class, nipping Grant Baylor by
one point. Baylor was one of
those riders who went down in
the first turn, rounding the first
lap in eighth place in class. He
would go on to finish sixth in
class/seventh overall on the day.
The final podium position was
up for grabs, but it was Ash-
burn who nabbed the final step,
finishing comfortably ahead of

This gave Strang plenty of
breathing room at the end, and
he took the checkered flag two
minutes ahead of Sipes.
"I [felt] I had the speed to win
today; I just need to stay off the
ground," Sipes said.
"Overall it was a good day and
a good way to end the year,"
Strang said.
For Strang, this was his
seventh visit to the podium in
the XC1 class this year and he

Sipes tried to keep the
pressure on Strang but he had
troubles keeping his bike on two
wheels.
"Sipes had a crash with a
lapper and I was able to further
extend my lead," said Strang. "It
was really fun riding with those
guys early on."
