VOL. 52 ISSUE 44 NOVEMBER 3, 2015 P73 PRESENTED BY MAXXIS, AN AMA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Strang who stood on the top step of the podium after nab- bing his second straight win and third of the 2015 GNCC season. Strang commanded most of the race, though fellow Husqvarna rider Ryan Sipes and N-Fab/ AmPro Yamaha's Jordan Ash- burn kept him honest through out. At one time, both Sipes and Ashburn led the field. Ashburn got it all started by grabbing the All Balls Racing Holeshot Award and the $250 that goes with it, and he led the XC1 class into the woods. The battle for the lead was intense as the group of riders streaked through the first few turns all try- ing to find their way to the front. The first turn was not kind to several of the riders, includ- ing fan favorite Thad Duvall on the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KR4 Husqvarna. He was one of a number of riders who got tangled up and went down. He was forced to start at the back and then ride hard to make up ground. Things, however, only got worse for Duvall. A short time later, a mechanical problem forced him into the pits early, and he had to deal with it for the rest of the three-hour race. He would eventually finish 13 th in class. Meanwhile, up front, it soon became apparent that Strang was going to be the rider to beat on this day. After a short scrap with AirGroup/Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Sipes, Strang pulled out and opened up a Strang (2) and Ryan Sipes battle for the lead. The two Husky riders went on to finish 1-2.
