VOL. 52 ISSUE 42 OCTOBER 20, 2015 P63 there are a few things we can say about the importance of what went down in Vegas. First, it seems that Roczen's setup woes might be a thing of the past. Roczen struggled with settings during the AMA Nationals to the point that he ran traditional-style oil/spring forks during the last few rounds of the Nationals, as well as at last week's Red Bull Straight Rhythm. However, at the Mon- ster Cup, Roczen was sporting some new KYB suspension on his RM-Z450, joining the club that now includes Trey Canard, Eli Tomac, the entire JGR Yamaha team, Chad Reed, and Cole Seely. Don't be surprised to see James Stewart and Blake Baggett on KYB, now that Roc- zen will be showing them how well his works at the test track this off-season. But with how his 2015 sea- son went, you can bet that the Monster Cup left Canard feeling like he has a real shot to win races and championships in 2016. He was the outright fast- est guy at the race all weekend, and his starts are getting better. His speed combined with good starts could be nearly unstop- pable. And finally, it seems that any illusions that Reed and Stewart may have had that they were already on par with their 2016 competition have been shat- tered. They both now know they have a lot of work to do in order to get ready for 2016, but the final main event with a chance at the Monster Million. "I think getting three holeshots is almost harder than doing the million," Anderson said. WHERE THIS LEADS Since most of the racers do tend to look at the Monster Energy Cup as a progress report of sorts in their preparation for the following Supercross series, on cruise control for the last half a lap or so. Anderson ended up winning the second race with no penal- ties for missing the Joker Lane, then finished third in the final main event. If he'd have remem- bered to take the Joker Lane in the first race and held on to win, Anderson would have won the 2015 Monster Energy Cup, and actually would've gone into the Lance Kobusch (99) won both Supermini motos.
