VOL. 52 ISSUE 38 SEPTEMBER 22, 2015 P97
Briefly...
Team USA acquired a new major
sponsor this year in Coastal Drilling
East Racing, in addition to Wellard,
Arai, FMF, the Kurt Caselli Founda-
tion, Motion Pro, Spectro, Tagger
Designs and ThermoProbe.net.
Attrition in Slovakia was nowhere
near what it was in Argentina last
year. Light rain before and several
times during the race kept dust to
a minimum and left little mud on
the course. In fact, this was the first
time in many years that so many
U.S. riders made it to the finish in-
tact. Josh Toth of the Tony Agonis
Club team had a problem and had
to re-impound on the first day. After
that, he put in excellent C1 (Club
team, 125cc two-stroke/250cc four-
stroke) times, capping the week by
winning the first C1 moto on day six.
Josh Strang found out at the last
minute that his visa would not be
granted in time, thus preventing him
from leaving the U.S. to race for Aus-
tralia's World Trophy team. Since
his Husqvarna FC 450 was already
in Slovakia, former GNCC regular
Glenn Kearney got the call to ride
Strang's bike. He took the suspen-
sion and ECU from his FE 450 but
was told that the FE's ECU wouldn't
mesh well with the harder-hitting FC
engine so he simply adjusted, earn-
ing a gold medal for 20th in E2.
Paul Edmondson is another face
familiar to GNCC fans from the early
part of this century, but the multi-
time British World Trophy team rider
was also absent, having received a
late call to do the motorcycle stunts
as a stand-in for actor Matt Damon
in the next installment of the Jason
Bourne movie series.
