Briefly...
Davi Millsaps made his debut on
the BTO Sports KTM at Glen Helen.
Although the veteran racer didn't
set the world on fire with 11
th
over-
all, he was content with his 16-10
performance. This was his first race
outdoors since 2012. "It was pretty
hot; it's been pretty hot in California
and I haven't done well in the heat,"
he said. "So for me to go out there
and finish both motos was an ac-
complishment for me. This probably
wasn't the smartest race for me to
come back [at], but all in all it was
a fun day. Yeah, I faded hard in the
first moto and I might not have been
up front, but, shoot, I'm just pumped
to gain some experience out of it,
and get some time on the bike in
race situations. Considering I've only
had maybe four motos on the bike [in
training], I'm pretty happy how I felt.
I wasn't strong and in shape enough
to run with those guys, but I'm hap-
py. I love my bike, it's me that needs
work."
One of the most impressive riders
of the day was former World champ
Antonio Cairoli. The Red Bull KTM
Team rider was making his return
from an arm injury and was found
battling for the lead in both motos,
which included a clear holeshot in
the second moto and the top spot for
three laps. He said before the motos
that he felt good on the bike but ad-
mitted that he was not in the best of
shape after having not been on the
racetrack for more than a month. It
showed, he slipped back in the both
motos and ended up 13
th
overall. Cai-
roli, however, was still his joyful self
and seemed to enjoy his visit to Cali-
fornia. "The weekend went very well,
apart from my condition," he said.
