MOTOCROSS
FIM MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
FINAL ROUND / SEPTEMBER 19-20, 2015
GLEN HELEN RACEWAY / SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA
P78
T
he MXGP of the United
States at Glen Helen
Raceway was hot, both
figuratively and literally. With
temperatures creeping passed
the 100-degree mark, the riders
of the MXGP series, as well as
the local racers, were certainly
tested after a long 18-round
series (the longest in MXGP
history) that bounced around all
over the globe since April, cul-
minating on a hot, sunny and dry
September day in the foothills of
Southern California. The racing
action was just as intense as the
heat, especially if your name
ended in Febvre, Grant, Webb
or Cairoli.
The rider who passed the
test best was the Frenchman,
Romain Febvre, who had al-
ready clinched the 2015 MXGP
(450cc) World title three rounds
earlier. Despite not having ever
before ridden the Glen Helen
course, with its unique, mas-
sive downhills and uphills and
banked first turn, and not being
used to the blazing heat, Febvre
seemed to only get better as the
motos wore on.
Febvre was just plain impres-
sive. The friendly and likable
23-year-old rider of the Yamaha
Factory Racing/Yamalube Team
came from behind in both mo-
tos, winning the first after heated
exchanges with former World
GAJSER
