s dominant as Bryan
Smith has seemingly been
on the Springfield Mile
the last few years, 2015 brought
the factory-backed Crosley
Products/Howerton Motorsports
Kawasaki ace a feat he never
accomplished before and that
was a sweep of both the Memo-
rial Day and Labor Day weekend
Springfield Miles. Smith turned
in another perfectly timed and
flawlessly executed final lap to
push his Kawasaki around the
outside of the Harley-Davidsons
of Jared Mees and Jake John-
Briefly...
Johnny Lewis injured his right leg
and hit his head pretty hard in a crash
into the airfence between turns one
and two during timed qualifying.
Lewis initially came back to the pits
with the hope of trying to continue
to race, but after trying a few steps
he was nauseous and dizzy so he
needed medical attention. It marked
the final round of 2015 for the Lloyd
Brothers Motorsports Ducati squad.
Former World Superbike Champion
Troy Bayliss was slated to race at
Springfield, but he was injured in a
race back in his home of Australia
the weekend before.
Former World Superbike and 250
Grand Prix World Champion John
Kocinski was on hand to watch the
Springfield Mile. Kocinski won sev-
eral events the evening before in the
Springfield Short Track non-national
All-Star flat track event. "I always
