VOL. 52 ISSUE 30 JULY 28, 2015 P87
Briefly...
Ryan Dungey now has more wins
at Washougal than any other rider—
even Ricky Carmichael. His latest
victory was his seventh—including
250s—at Washougal, which moved
him out of a tie with Carmichael. It
was also Dungey's fifth 450 win in
the last six years. Millville's Spring
Creek might be his home track but
Washougal is his without question
his best track.
The tie-breaking second moto of the
250 class was a good one with Coo-
per Webb, the hottest rider in the
class right now, defending champ
and points leader Jeremy Martin,
and Marvin Musquin getting out
1-2-3 right at the start. Martin had the
holeshot, but Cooper forced his way
around him just a few turns into the
race. Cooper, who has openly admit-
ted that he won't help his teammate
for the title if a moto win is within his
own grasp, pulled away from Martin,
who had Musquin right on his rear
fender. Martin, however, eventu-
ally reeled Webb back in and passed
him for the lead, only to fall three
laps from the end. It was a small
but costly fall, one that might haunt
him later in the series. He dropped
from first to third in the moto. Martin,
however, took it all in stride (like he
usually does with anything, good or
bad). "I made a mistake in a turn,"
Martin said of the fall. "A piece of
dirt [from the edge of the berm]
fell down from it; I jammed my front
wheel in it and pushed me off the
bike." Cooper, however, did end up
helping his teammate by holding off
Musquin to the end. Had Musquin
passed Webb, Musquin and Martin
would have left Washougal tied for
cia's tip-over.
Cooper Webb (1-2), mean-
while, might have come away
with the 250cc-class win but
Marvin Musquin (1-2) was the
real winner of the day. He trailed
championship leader Jeremy
speed. "He's riding good, no
doubt," said Red Bull KTM rider
said. "He's not easy to pass and
will be there at the end. I just
wanted to keep the pressure on
him." That pressure may have
had something to do with Bar-

Yamahas just might be the fastest bikes on
the track right now. Justin Barcia (51) nailed
his sixth holeshot in a row and his teammate,
Phil Nicoletti (46) is usually nearby.
