"I had a difficulty with some areas on the track and
the bike just wasn't pulling down in some areas where
I wanted it to," said Sykes. "That enabled Chaz [Da-
vies] to ride away. Chaz had a great pace and he never
really put a foot wrong so it was really difficult in race
one to challenge for the win. Overall, I am fairly satis-
fied but we were just not close enough. Two second
places are acceptable but another rider took the
prizes this weekend."
Behind the race-one big-three Giugliano placed
himself fourth, and the remarkable rookie Torres fifth,
despite some serious rear tire traction issues, out of
and into corners. He was 19 seconds behind the win-
ner in race one.
The second race saw Giugliano crash very hard
early on, but his team indicated that he was basically
okay, apart from the worrying battering he took.
Guintoli was out of race two early on after crashing
