VOL. 52 ISSUE 28 JULY 14, 2015 P95 between the top three was 66-1000ths of a second in yet another amazing Grand National Mile finish. The sparse crowd that showed up for this year's race saw an excellent display of the varied lines, the best Grand National Championship mile flat track racing has to offer. Baker was charging hard into the turns and running up in the loose dirt, or the cushion of the high line. That would allow him to then dive back onto the groove with a tre- mendous amount of momentum. Smith on the other hand, took the shortest way around Indy, running low on the blue groove. Mees tried a combination of cushion and groove riding, prob- ing around looking for a faster line as the track changed during the final. Coming home alone in fourth was Mikey Martin, about two seconds back from the lead Brad Baker's (6) winning line earned him his first career Grand National Championship win on a mile.
