rad Baker has done a
lot of things in his racing
career, including winning
the AMA Pro Grand National
Championship in 2013. One
thing the former champ hadn't
done was taken a victory on a
mile. Now the 22-year-old racer
from Eatonville, Washington, can
check that one off his list.
Baker used the high line and
the cushion of the Indy Mile
to get a perfect drive from his
factory Harley-Davidson XR750
out of turn four and drafted past
fellow Harley rider Jared Mees to
take victory in the 48th running
of the Indy Mile at the Indiana
State Fairground in Indianapolis.
Baker's margin of victory was
.020 of a second. Kawasaki-
mounted Bryan Smith zipped
past Mees just before the line to
finish second. Mees, who came
from the back row to lead the
bulk of the 25-lap national, had
to settle for third. The margin
