P38 MEO, BELLINO AND REMES DOMINATE IN BELGIUM T he Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship headed to Bel- gium for the penultimate stop of the series, where Antoine Meo, Mathias Bellino and Eero Remes all celebrated double victories at the Grand Prix of Belgium. Riders battled dusty condi- tions in St. Hubert until the final lap of the day on Sunday, when the skies opened up and dumped a heavy rain on the event. The rain effectively turned the tables in the E1 division, where Christophe Nambotin led the way on day two ahead of day one winner Remes. Although Remes wasn't far off the pace, Nambotin maintained the lead up until the last test. But a crash handed the win (and possibly the championship) to Remes, who celebrated a sweep of the weekend. "After having trouble with my wrist in Italy, I wanted to come back fighting here in Belgium and I have been able to do exactly that," commented the TM Factory rider. "I now have a healthy 24-point lead heading into the final round in France." Bel-Ray Husqvarna's Mathias Bellino made a marked return to dominance in the E3 (open) ranks. After surrendering a double victory to Factory KTM's Matt Phillips at the previous round in Italy, Bellino bounced back and captured a dominant pair of wins in Belgium. Phillips was left to battle with Sherco- mounted Matti Seistola for run- ner up honors. The tight battle between Pela Renet and Antoine Meo in the E2 division came to a screech- ing halt in Belgium. Renet's weekend met an unfortunate end when the Frenchman crashed heavily in the dust of IN THE WIND PHOTOGRAPHY BY FUTURE 7 MEDIA Factory KTM's Antoine Meo is a shoe-in for the E2 championship after dominating the GP of Belgium.
