SAM LOWES TO
MOTOGP?
F
ormer World Supersport
Champion Sam Lowes—
making waves in his second
Moto2 season—is rumored
to be set for a move to Mo-
toGP next year, to join the
Aprilia team. Winner of the
Austin Grand Prix and third overall after two more
podium finishes, Lowes could have his pick of
Moto2 rides for next season, but would prefer to
move up to the top class.
One of only a handful of riders not to campaign
a Kalex, Lowes had been looking forward to a
more flexible chassis for his Speed Up at the Ger-
man race, but when he tried it in the second free
practice, it was more trouble than it was worth.
"It was moving around a lot at the front, so I
decided to stick with what I know," he said. "But
it's promising, and with a bit more work I think I'll
be using it later in the year."
Lowes struggled on the Speed Up last year,
but reported a massive improvement this year with
a switch from a carbon-fiber swing-arm to a more
flexible aluminum unit.

HAHN TO SIT OUT
MILLVILLE
M
onster Energy Kawasaki's Wil Hahn suffered
yet another setback after sustaining another
injury while training during the off week of the Lu-
cas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. The
injury will prevent him from competing in the next
round of the outdoor nationals at Spring Creek
Raceway in Millville, Minnesota, July 18.
"I'm disappointed for my team, sponsors and
all my fans," said Hahn in a company release.
"I'm not sure what the recovery time is at the mo-
ment, but I am going to work hard to get back on
the bike as soon as I can. Everything was com-
ing together and I felt like I was starting to ride
at my best. This injury is a small setback for us
but knowing I have such a great group of people
behind me, keeps me pushing forward."
No information was released from the team
regarding the nature of the injury, but it appears
that he suffered injuries to his rib area.
It is not yet know exactly how long he'll be out
of action. The team did say that it is exploring its
options regarding a fill-in rider. CN
Wil Hahn, who was already on the comeback trail from
a previous injury, suffered another injury that will keep
him off the bike for at least the upcoming Spring Creek
round of the outdoor national MX series.
