VOL. 52 ISSUE 25 JUNE 23, 2015 P27
shook up the championship,
while another sub-par finish
by defending champion Anto-
nio Cairoli also mixed things
up. Cairoli was forced to race
with a lingering injury (from his
crash in Italy last week), and
this time could only muster a
14-6 finish for ninth overall.
As a result, Nagl's red plate
passed right over Cairoli and
landed in the hands of Romain
Febvre, who vaulted himself
from third to first in the cham-
pionship with his overall win in
Germany.
It was another great weekend
for the Yamaha Factory Racing
Yamalube team, as Febvre took
his third-straight overall victory.
The Frenchman, once again,
showed he has an amazing
ability to find traction on slick ter-
rain as he showed the quickest
way around the Teutschenthal
track aboard his factory Yamaha
YZ450F. Despite a few incidenc-
es of his own, Febvre topped the
first moto and finished runner-
up behind Gautier Paulin in the
second moto.
Although he is thrilled to cap-
ture the red plate, Febvre and
the Yamaha Factory team remain
cautiously optimistic for the rest
of the season.
"Having the red plate is really
nice but this is the 10th GP and
there are still 16 motos to go.
There is something like 400
points still up for grabs so we
need to keep consistent. Like
we saw this weekend, anything
can happen."
In the MX2 class, Slovenian
rider Tim Gasjer took his second
win in a row with a 1-2 finish. The
Honda Gariboldi celebrated his
third GP win, and leaped into
second in the MX2 champion-
ship with his overall victory.
Monster Energy DRT Kawa-
saki's Max Anstie scored his first
podium of the season by finish-
ing second overall in Germany.
Anstie carded an eighth-place
finish in the opening moto, and
followed it up with a spectacu-
lar performance in the second
moto, where he took his first
race win of the year.
Standing Construct Yamaha
Yamalube's Valentin Guillod filled
out the podium with third overall.
Guillod was actually in the hunt
for the overall win after the first
moto, but after getting stuck in
the gate in the second moto and
starting from the back of the
pack, he had to fight just to get
on the podium.
Jean Turner
HRC's Gautier
Paulin topped
the second
moto and
captured
second overall
in the MXGP
class.
