FEBVRE CAPTURES WIN, CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD
T
he MXGP of Germany would have been
the ideal place for Red Bull IceOne
Husqvarna Factory Racing's Max Nagl to
reassert his lead in the championship. The
German rider came to the Teutschenthal
circuit looking to celebrate a win in front
of his home crowd, but a crash during
Saturday's qualifying race meant the red
plate holder would not even line up for the
MXGP of Germany.
The daunting Teutschenthal circuit actu-
ally took its toll on both red-plate holders,
as Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM
team also had a harsh get-off. In a scrub-
gone-wrong off the first big jump of the opening
moto, Herlings crashed and suffered a broken
collarbone. Like Nagl, Herlings did not score any
points in Germany, but fortunately for Herlings,
he still maintains a commanding lead in the MX2
class. Despite Tim Gasjer's win, he still trails Her-
lings in the championship by 100 points.
In the MXGP class, Nagl's DNF effectively
Romain Febvre
is on a role. The
Factory Yamaha
rider celebrated
his third-con-
secutive win at
the MXGP of
Germany.
