he crashed out of the race while
battling for a spot on the podi-
um. So while others led--Gerloff
and RoadRace Factory's Cam-
eron Petersen—he ran his own
race. And it paid off, because
they like many others (David
Anthony, Corey Alexander and
hard-charging Hayden Gillim to
name a few) fell victim to the wet
track's capricious nature.
In the end, discretion being
the better part of valor, Herrin
was rewarded with the top spot
on the podium.
"My whole goal going into it
was just to try and stay up and
we were able to do that," Herrin
said. "Whenever I saw [Garrett]
Gerloff and [Cameron] Petersen
start to inch away I was trying
to keep up with them but I also
at the same time didn't want to
throw it away just to try and keep
up or pass them. I knew that we

be able to race a motorcycle almost
every weekend and call this my real
job, it's just amazing. I'm just trying
to enjoy the whole ride and hope it's
going to last for a long time."
Although there were definite im-
provements to the surface at Road
America, Josh Herrin had some in-
put to improve it further. "One thing
I'd like to add is I think one of the rea-
sons that Garrett [Gerloff] crashed
yesterday is because there's white
lines going across the track in that
brake area over there [before turn
eight] and those stripes are super
slippery," he said. "And in the future
I'd like to possibly see those things
sealed over or something because
I've crashed on those before and
that's what it looked like had hap-
pened yesterday because he was
straight up and down. I've seen it
happen a couple times, actually.
It's kind of a sketchy spot because

stronger and where he's stronger," Roberts said.
"Kind of found that under braking I had a little bit
more in some places. When I made the pass I just
tried to get a really good drive out of the last corner
and got in the draft and out-broke him into turn one.
Just tried to put my head down after that and really
just make sure Richie [Escalante] couldn't get by me
and it worked out."
Wyman completed the podium in third, but the
title chase is still tight. Roberts returned to the lead
with 120 points, with Escalante in second at 114 and
Wyman a point behind at 113.
(Left to right) Joe Roberts, Travis Wyman and
Richie Escalante continued to monopolize the
Superstock 600 podium at Road America.
In race one it was Herrin (2),
overcoming the unforgiving
conditions in the wet to take home
his third win of the year.
