The MotoAmerica Superstock Championship has had
three riders that have set themselves apart from the pack—
championship leader Joe Roberts, Richie Escalante and
Travis Wyman. It was no different at Road America as the
three once again topped the podium, with Wyman and
Roberts splitting wins.
In race one it was Wyman on the Kyle Wyman Racing
Yamaha who edged out Wheels In Motion/Motorsport.
com/Meen Yamaha's Roberts to take his first win since
2011 (also at Road America) in the challenging conditions.
"It was just such a good feeling to be back up here and
to be battling for the lead, especially in those conditions,"
Wyman said. "It was definitely a tough race. There were a
few moments where I thought I was going down as well.
I'm just really happy to be back up here, especially at Road
America. I really don't like this track that much but I do
really well here. The layout and configuration doesn't really
suit me because I'm not as strong on the brakes."
In third was Escalante who didn't try and be a hero and
just made sure to finish the race and take that last podium
position.
Like Supersport, the second Superstock race on
Sunday was a different story in the dry. And this time it was
a Roberts-Escalante duel, with Roberts taking the win by
.679 of a second. Even though the pair have had many
great battles this season so far, it was actually the first time
Roberts spent some time behind Escalante to observe his
lines.
